According to reports, Aadhaar card details will be compulsory for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains from the year 2017 onwards while online registering. Also the relaxation for the rule is only given to few states like Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam. The new rule has been made mandatory by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from year 2017. Joint Apex Board (JAB) will allow the use of attendance machines to process Aadhaar based biometric information to mark the attendance of the candidates appearing for the examination.

The report further added that Aadhaar card is used to avoid misconduct at examination centre and to keep track of the identity of the candidates appearing for the examination. CBSE board has borne the entire expenditure of the attendance machines used for Aadhaar card based information.

The three states which are exempted from using mandatory rule of Aadhaar card during the JEE examination are Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, and Assam. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will scan the OMR sheets at all the examination locations just after the exam. The entire examination will be recorded by installing CCTV cameras at the exam centres.
