The Central Board of Secondary Education board exam results were declared a few days ago in which many students showed excellent performance and out of these 86 students who hailed from the economically backward class were felicitated by the board under the annual event of Gun Gaurav. Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister, Prakash Javadekar, was present on the occasion to do the honors.

"Education empowers an individual and gives courage to realize dreams. Education is inspirational as these students have shown with their excellent performance," Javadekar said at the event.

More about the winners

  • 45 of the awarded students were from government and government-aided schools
  • 31 students were from Kendriya Vidyalayas who scored 95 percent or above.
  • 10 students were from the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas who scored 88 percent.

"These students have been identified on the basis of the performance range and income criteria as recommended by an internal committee," a CBSE official said.

Total number of schools affiliated with the CBSE as of March 31 are

  • 18,694 schools in India
  • 211 schools in 25 foreign countries

Further they are divided as follows:

  • 1,117 Kendriya Vidyalayas
  • 2,720 Government and aided schools
  • 14,253 Independent schools
  • 590 Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalayas
  • 14 Central Tibetan schools

These 86 students were the one which performed the best among students of all schools and awarding such students will motivate them to do their best in their higher studies.
