There is a good news for the teachers in Punjab. The state cabinet has finalized that 8,886 teachers that were recruited under the central education programs will be made regular.
The Press Trust of India quoted an official “under the chairmanship of
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, the cabinet has decided to regularize 7,356 Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers and 1,194 Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) teachers.”
Apart from this, the state cabinet has also decided to regularize220 model schools
teachers and 116 Adarsh schools teachers, an official told.
Under the SSA and RMSA program, the state government has been recruiting the teachers in order to meet the student-teacher ratio. Funds for both the programs are shared by the central and state governments in the ratio 60:40.
The decision was taken on the recommendations of cabinet sub-committee.
A spokesman said “The sub-committee had recommended of absorbing these teachers bycreating posts in the school education department of the state with aregular pay of Rs. 10,300 per month (initial of the regular pay scale) forthe three years. But the Cabinet has decided to pay them Rs. 15,000instead”.
The probation period for these teachers will be three years.
"On successful completion of the probation period of three years, their services would be regularized by the department, strictly as per rules," the education department official said.
