What After GATE?
‘Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering’ this is the most commonly chosen option after completing ‘Bachelor of Technology’ (B. Tech) degree. So let’s discuss what’s there after GATE.
GATE provides you opportunity to prove your technical skills both theoretical and practical, and provides an option to get enrolled in top class colleges and universities like IITs, IIITs, NITs and other good private network of education.
Exam is over now. Results are already out. Students getting good ranks have already tried to apply in IITs and NITs counselling. I wish they get good and desired stream to study further. Now what about people getting ranks?
Category 1: 500 – 1: you may expect IIT/good NIT
Category 2: 1500 – 500: you may expect Good/bad NIT
This time is so difficult for the students having ranks around 1500. There must be so precise decision to get best out of your GATE score. So much stress of what decision to make next. You need to be cool if you are in this category.
Category 3: Students from 3000 – 2000: you may expect a chance to apply in good Deemed universities and colleges, but you may need to go through some entrance test / Interview even if you are selected through your GATE score.
Category 4: Well there is a category after 3000 & above up to last one who qualified. There is nothing bad if you are in this category and you feel like you are finished in your career. ïŠ Usually students in this category fill every single form that is available out there and end up in few choices that they didn’t want to select any.

3. Deemed and private
4. State university
If you’re B. Tech from some state university you’d surely know whether it’s a good choice or not. IITs are never your choice, it’s your performance in GATE. Option 2 and 3 is the option you’d fight for and believe me you’ll again find a tough competition in here.

Life after GATE might be little depressing and hopeless but if you don’t want this failure to be repeated you should work for it. Your own efforts can help you surviving in this competitive world out there.
