Out of the protective cocoon of school life, one stands at that very platform of life when feelings of nostalgia, excitement, confusions, determination all set the heart racing like a jet! - Raise up your hand, Volunteer!
Showing interest in the ongoing college activities is the best thing that can win you friends and a place in the social arena. Volunteering is a great way to meet people and learn new skills. You’ll yourself feel good about giving back something to the college you are enrolled in. Every college has student bodies managing the volunteering part for everything- music, literary, dance and college festivals.
- Explore your college:
Take a good stroll around your college. Get to know what is where and which are the places of your interest. Explore the area where you have to life for the next few years!
- Be on the safer side:
Being a fresher one should be free from hassles. Avoid getting into any fights or issues. Its going to mar your reputation as a student as well as in your group. Who wants to do that, ofcourse!
- Attend Classes!
Do not get lured to the fantasies of a new college life. In a big class your absence may go unnoticed but that will definitely affect your grades. Do not bunk the classes, mind it; it will ruin your grades. Be a good student!
- Keep your Budget in mind:
Newbie in college, you want to make the most of it. Parties, lunches, shopping: everything is terribly exciting but do not forget to keep your budget in mind. Do not run out of expenses in the mid of the month!
- Be you!
Don’t act like a social butterfly if you are not, do not put up a false mask to attract eyeballs! Have the right attitude which could win you some good friends. It is not important to be termed as the hottest fresher in college, just be honest to the people around and let your work speak for you!
- Keep in proper touch with your family:
Back home your parents are always worried for you! Always keep them updated with your activities, class performance and extra co-curricular activities, even if you are not excelling in them. Share love with your parents, they too miss you like you miss them!
- Be frank with teachers:
In college you are taught by professors, not class teachers who tend to own you like their own children! Instead of venting about professors whom you hold at a great esteem, make yourself positively seen and heard to them. Introduce yourself to professors, ask them questions. Increase your bond with the faculty; it will help you a lot in your coming years.
College has characters of every kind! From those who are hardcore bunkers to those who refuse to bunk a single class, canteen socialisers to never seen in the campus guys, kids who only holiday with foreign trips to those who make local dhabas their second home! You never know who could become your best friend among the lot!!
From the sheltered school life to the chaotic college rigmarole, the point is just to enjoy the ride!
