Once you are over with your school the next big step that awaits is College! The first day at college can be daunting and nerve-wrecking but at the same time it is full of excitement, such that the mere thoughts of a new atmosphere, surroundings and fresh faces can give you an adrenaline rush. But before you set out for your college, it is advisable to take some tips regarding what you need to remember before your first day at college!

"·Remember to take a tour of your college before you delve into the arena of taking notes and matching your pace with the professors. Do not leave navigating your class to the day of your first lecture! If you don't want to end up entering late in the class with a confused expression on your face do some research beforehand.

"·Do not make yourself look too reserved or busy. The best idea is to keep the door of your room open. A number of people might come up to make friends with you or to start a short conversation! A closed door might suggest that you're busy with your own stuff.

"·Remember that you'll have to introduce yourself to the class and the professors. Depending upon the course you're taking or the strength of your class make a quick decision about the length to which you'll be speaking about yourself. If the class is not too packed add some friendly comments in your intro along with some hobbies and personal interests! Introducing yourself nicely will raise your confidence level and will help you be comfortable while asking questions in class.

"·Make it a point to act natural. You need not show off your personality or appear too much out of the crowd. It is good to stand out of the pool of hundreds of students but those who go an extra mile seem quite awkward to freshmen. Try to make an impression that radiates positivity and friendliness. First impression is a very important key when it comes to interacting with faculty members and staff.

"·Choose a good place to sit. Do not be thrown to a far corner of the lecture hall from where you'd be inaudible and distracted. Try to sit somewhere from where you can pay attention to your course and can ask your doubts as well.

"·Do a little research about your subjects and the syllabus. Get to know a little about your professors and class schedule. Once the classes start, take down all the important dates and assignments from each subject into your planner.

"·Remember to pack some snacks with you to the class. Its going to be your first day at college and you never know whether you'll have enough time for lunch, so make sure you don't have hunger getting over your concentration in class. And you never know when you might feel hungry! Take a beverage like juice, water etc with you.

The best thing to remember is not to let this first day get you too overwhelmed. If you'll take a look around you'll see everyone is in the same spot as you're in!
