Education in India will deteriorate fast if necessary steps are not taken to improve the standard of education. The teaching method needs widespread improvement. Especially in the rural areas of the country there is a serious problem when it comes to education. As there is a serious lack in terms of volunteers as well as government funds when it comes to educating the rural sections of the country, a huge part of the country is left to fend for itself when it comes to education.
Education of women:
While the country has made many advances in the field of education for women there is still a long way to go. There are still many families in India which have an orthodox attitude towards higher education of women. It is known that the subjugation of women in India is directly related to the fact that there is a severe lack in their education. Therefore there is a rampant need to pay more attention to the education of the girl child. To provide her with the same opportunities as every boy has in her age.
Syllabus is not challenging enough:
At the level of the course curriculum students all over the country are at a distinct disadvantage because most of the grade of every student is based on a theory based study. The students fail to learn the application of their skills. Rather they are put at the mercy of theory based education which does not challenge their minds. This is a serious flaw in the education system as it does very little to improve the IQ of the students.
There is a desperate need for a project oriented learning environment so that it gives the students the initiative to take their learning in their hands. The method of teaching offers a more conceptual vision. The students are actively involved in the process of understanding. Rather than the outdated approach of lecturing the class, this method has proved to be more beneficial.
Improve the Standard of Government Schools:
For the past decade the standard of government schools has only gone down. Because of the lack of infrastructure as well as qualified faculty the students in government schools suffer at the hand of untrained teachers and outdated modes. As technology is advancing fast so should the method of teaching as well as the courses which need to be taught. The private schools provide their students with the latest technology and a better learning environment. It is here that they get ahead of the government schools which use old methods to teach.
The standard of education in government schools is at the bare minimum level. Because of the severe lack of a good faculty department students do not have a healthy learning environment. As a result at a very early age they are disenchanted with the thought of gaining literacy and voluntarily choose to drop out of school. India is one of the many countries which have a very high rate of high school dropouts, because of this reason as well as many other reasons. If these conditions are improved, then the education system in the country will definitely improve.
