SSC conducted its CGL Tier-1 exam in the month of October. Lakhs of candidates gave the SSC CGL Tier 1 2014 exam on 19th and 26th October. With more than 2 months lapsed, the candidates are waiting for the results with a heavy breath.

Usually, the Tier 1 exam is conducted much earlier in the year, but due to some news of paper getting leaked in the 2013 SSC CGL Tier 2 exam, the entire schedule of the 2014 paper took a hit.

The SSC CGL Tier 1 paper consisted of 200 questions, which 50 questions each from Reasoning, General Awareness, Mathematics and English. With the candidate only getting 2 hours for this objective type paper, the speed of the candidate is of utmost importance.

Based on the previous years’ cut-offs and the difficulty level of the question paper this year, the expected cut off for the general category students in the the Tier 1 exam could be 102 +/- 5 marks. The SSC has already announced the dates for the Tier 2 exam, which are 24th and 25th January 2015. The SSC has also uploaded the official answer keys to all the question paper sets from the Tier 1 paper. You can easily download the same from SSC’s website and calculate your marks.

If you are getting more than 110 marks, you can be sure of getting through to the next round. Therefore, you must begin your preparations for the Tier 2 exam before it is too late. The results for the Tier 1 exam are expected to be announced by December end.

Last year’s results have shown that the Tier 2 exam is extremely critical and the students need to fetch high marks in order to secure a good post through SSC. The Tier 2 stage consists of two papers, viz. English and Mathematics. Both the papers have an equal weightage of 200 marks each. You can get a fair idea regarding the difficulty level by looking at the question papers from the previous years.

The results would be uploaded on the SSC website very soon. You would need to enter your registration number, date of birth and other details in order to fetch the result. The Tier 3 exam consists of the interview or other computer / typing tests based on the posts that you had entered while filling up your application form.
