National Defence Academy (NDA) as a Career
National Defence Academy ,best known as NDA ,is the academy that makes the guardians of our nation. NDA was established in 1949, at Khadakwasla near Pune is a premier Joint Services Training Institution. Keeping the safey of the people of the country and their security is the aim of the academy.The National Defence Academy is one of the foremost training institutes in India. Students from all over the country are trained together for three strong defence wings-Army, Navy & Airforce. In the past years NDA has given the best of the defence officers to the country including service chiefs. Hard work of the students and their determination to work for the country has made the academy reach top along with the time. The philosophy of the Academy is what keeps the spirit of the institute alive forever.
NDA looks for the ones who have the spirit and potential to work for the country and fells proud in serving our motherland.
NDA gives the cadets who help keeping our nations head up high with their motto "Karmanevadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachina " which means (Your duty is action with no eye on the fruits it will bring).
Three years course in the academy includes these:
1. Physical Training
2. Service Subjects
3. Academics (you would get a graduate degree on completion of course from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi)
After successful completion of three year training at NDA , cadets who chooses to go for Air Force Academy, goes for the Flying training of one year, after the training they get commissioned as Permanent Commission Officers in Flying Branch. Army cadets head towards IMA dehradoon & Navy cadets to Naval Academy, Goa. Students are also being provided with the stipend of rs.8000 through out.
NDA Examinations
NDA exam is an entrance exam for admission to NDA. UPSC conducts this exam twice every year. UPSC conducts written part of NDA exam, physical & interview part is conducted by Services Selection Board (SSC).
Every year more than 1 lakh people appear for NDA exam, out of which only 1500 gets the physical test & interview invites & finally 350 candidates enters the NDA.
