One of the most delightful feelings for any person in his/her life is entering into college. With eyes full of dreams and a heavy pumping of heart, a student enters college on the first day. This journey of 3-4 years transforms boys and girls into Man and Lady. But there is a dark side to it as well. An extremely heinous side, known as Ragging! Just the mere mention of this term is enough to dampen the spirits of any newcomer.
Of late, a number of cases related to ragging have managed to catch the headlines in the country. While some cases left an indelible mark over the student involved, there were some other cases as well that resulted into the death of the student. Since then, a number of strict rules have come up against ragging to ensure that such incidents are never repeated. Yet, year after year, major or minor, we get to hear some incident where seniors resort to ragging their juniors in the name of 'breaking the ice!' While the students involved in such acts term this as a necessary exercise to communicate with their juniors, the fact remains that there is no justification for such monstrous acts. Even the slightest of gestures can send the students into a state of shock.
