The Jaipur Literature Festival is the largest literary festival in Asia. It takes place every year in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Best speakers, authors, writers from all over the world show their presence here. A wide range of books launch, talks, debates, musical performances are held, to attract authors and readers who have interest in literature, from all around the world. Literature fest is a place to be or the lovers of books or writings with lots of music and fun.
A literary festival, also known as a writers' festival. Here regular gathering of readers & writers takes place on annual basis. A variety of presentations, talks, debates are usually delivered promoting the authors' books and showing the love for literature and writing. Literature fest has everything to entertain, from the teens to the experienced ones; it has the topics of interests for all. Sometimes writer's conference is presented as for delivering the information about academics & career so that students can get motivated & opt for right career.
In 2012, Salman Rushdie cancelled his visit to the literature fest after being informed by police that his life would be in danger.
Many good writers & authors definitely create an impact on general public by their speaking skills & knowledge. Visitors & speakers generally include authors, writers, actors, sports persons and media personalities.
This event held at Diggi Palace every year which has different sections where one hour events take place concurrently. Visitors are to attend any session on their own choice. We can see an interaction with the author personally. Not just this, evening ends up with musical, art shows & live band performances taking place at the venue/hotel close to Diggi palace. In literature fest, we have three categories for registration which is mandatory to enter the fest. First one is general/free participation in which after completing registration, a badge is being provided & you can enjoy the fest without any fee. Second is paid participation, at the end of the festival, a black-tie event is held for speakers and these important invitees. Third is accommodation participation in which you'll enjoy luxurious five star hotel facilities & special treatment.
It is a very crowded festival where you can generally find cream of the world which might be a good author, writer, & even students who are from literature background. Fest generally goes for 5 days. This year they welcomed over 240 authors for five days of debate and discussion, from fiction to biography, history to music. Special sessions on the themes of Crime and Punishment, Democracy Dialogues, Women Uninterrupted and Endangered Languages were also given a part in. As usual there are 6 venues/blocks where concurrently events are organized .
Literature fest is a best combination of art, literature, food & fun. It's not only for the professionals but also for the students as well. As the famous authors of young India who have carved their names internationally shows up every year. Indian favorite authors like Harsh Snehanshu, Cheetan Bhagat, etc show up and participate in different talk sessions and interacts with the audience.
