Once upon a time in India, Education was provided to the students completely free in the Gurukuls irrespective of the social standard of the student. With time, the situation has changed. The expenditure for getting the primary, secondary and higher level education has got increased rapidly with time. It is becoming tougher for the students from middle and lower class families to go for higher education.
Condition of the cities:
In cities you can find both Government and private schools in plenty of numbers. However, the number of private schools in the cities is more. It is true that the cost of studying in a private institution is increasing rapidly. From a survey in the city it has been discovered that most of the parents who have admitted their children in a private schools spend half of their income for the education of their children. A lot of new techniques have been introduced in the various private schools and it has increased the cost of study. As per the Government Data is concern it takes Rs. 275 per month on an average in the Government schools in various cities. And in the private school it is Rs. 893.
Condition of the rural areas:
In various rural areas the cost of studying is less. In villages there is not adequate schools and most of the schools are Government aided. In various remote places Government has established some of the primary schools where the education is absolutely free for the children. However, there are some other problems in the rural area. In most of the schools, the students do not get adequate text books, good teachers and many other facilities. So, thought the expenditure is low in these rural areas, the level of education is not also satisfactory.
Hike of Higher study cost:
There is no doubt about the fact that the cost of higher studies is increasing quite rapidly. Price was always high with the private organizations for various engineering courses, MBA, and other management courses. However, day by day the Government organizations are also increasing the course fees for higher studies. The fees for the undergraduates in IIT have been increased to 80% recently.
In most of the higher study courses like Engineering, master degrees or management courses, many students have to admit themselves in private colleges. The fees of these collages and the semester fees are extremely high.
Its effect on the society:
Education is one of the primary requirements for people. As the cost of it is mounting rapidly many families are facing huge problems. Most of the students from lower middle class and poor families have become unable to continue higher studies. Even in some higher middle class families, parents are bound to spend lion’s share of their monthly income for the study of their children. Even after having that good education, many a student is not getting satisfactory jobs. A lot of students are taking bank loans for study and they are facing problems to repay it as they are not getting high paid jobs.
There is no doubt about the fact that now the cost of Education in India is increasing rapidly all over India and many poor students are facing problems to continue their study for long because of this.
