The company is bringing the benefits of its establishment to the Indian market in view of the recent spurt of opportunities emerging in the Indian education market.
The company has studied how India has radically progressed in the economic sector which has helped the rise of a large section of the middle class. The ambitions of the people, implementation of newer technologies and diversity in career prospects has made the education scenario more lucrative. The average spending of Indians on education has increased manifold. This very fact has been pivotal in attracting Pearson-the goliath of the global education companies, to touchdown on Indian soil.
Over the past years since its entry into the Indian market, Pearson has had dynamic growth in the sector. Initiatives like owning IndiaCan have been greatly successful for the company. Such a venture has proven their commitment to assist the Indian education system in registering a boosted growth as well as their potential urge to foray even deeper into the market.
Ranu Kawatra the CEO of Pearson Education in India says, “Pearson is planning to focus more on digital learning and education services which are parts of its global strategy for emerging as a global company with intense focus in the local arena.”
Kawatra feels that India needs to spend more in the education sector with immediate effect. The funds should be instilled more intently in the local domain where literacy programmes will reflect more inclusive growth.
He is also of the opinion that the focus of education should not be on the quantity but its intrinsic quality. This very fact will enable the Indian education system to register even better and robust growth owing to the impact it is surely expected to have.
