'General knowledge' in curriculum:
Growth of technology brought several innovations in many fields. In field of education, use of education was also an innovative idea. We scientifically prepare things to study according to psychology of students studying in the corresponding standard. Including general knowledge is however not that scientific but moral. The ideas of knowing and exploring things come from other subject but when you come out of your classroom you face the real world that is far different from the book’s description. Human behavior is quite a difficult thing to explain but it varies so much form man to man.

The world around you:
The world out of books is actually full featured live book of information. The actions and deeds are seen with bare eyes here. You need to understand the world for your own interest in the world and to understand it you need to walk with the world’s situation it’s facing now. General knowledge is a subject that makes you aware of things that are relevant to your society and nearby activities that make sense and are of area of attention. These attention seeking happenings should be in our regular touch so that you could talk walk with the people you are living with. This much knowledge of your surrounding will make you behaviorally sound and a good citizen of your society.

Your society:
Since society is the people who know you and will seek your help when in need. This thing matters if your society respects you for being that much behavioral. GK is a subject which lets you know about the current affairs of nation, society and world. This subject plays important part in your life in being a social. “Man is a social animal”, they say. General knowledge will make you a better one I believe. People exploring things and facts share their experiences to society and you have a great opportunity to learn new things without experiencing them yourself but others. You can learn from other people’s lives and experience.

Introducing GK:
Introducing GK as a subject to the curriculum is good for us in way of making progress towards good social personality. Knowing things happening around us is a good thing. Knowing things that has happened around is also good since we’ll know the reason why it is today in the way it is. GK helps you in making decisions in a good range of fields; it gives you the knowledge of fields non-relevant to you. If you don’t use that knowledge for your own sake you can always suggest others at least. You can help in things or family affairs by such extra knowledge. Your domain knowledge will tell you what to do when a known situation occurs but GK lets you know how to face a strange situation. Knowledge is never the worthless; it always pays back to you.
This is the reason general knowledge is common now days in competition exams and also in graduate level competitions. It’s better if you know general things before you claim to be good in your own domain.
