In a country like India education has been the top priority for many years. There was a time in India when people all over the world wanted to come here and study under the guidance of the eminent scholars and teachers. Then there were no other social pressures on the teachers and they were not over burdened with excessive curricular activities. The study methods were much more superior and the students did not have so many distractions as the present day. They did not have to worry much about jobs.
What went wrong?
Over time things changed in India. The students started taking jobs into consideration and the streams became varied. The basic knowledge was now being divided into different fields and that caused students to lose interest in education. The syllabus became large and students were burdened with the fear of examinations. This created panic among the students. The fu of education vanished soon. The education system became more vulnerable as more and more institutions opened up to cater to the needs of the masses but compromised with the quality of education that was being provided.
The teachers:
Today the teachers in schools and colleges have a life of their own. They not only have to teach in their institutions but they also have to take care of other things like household work and have their social life as well. Along with studies the teachers have to keep constant records of the progress of the students. This makes them unavailable for research. The teachers also have to take up extra activities. This gives them less time to teach the students. These things need to be taken care of to improve the situation in the country.
Encouraging education:
The rural people need to understand the importance of education. They do not send their children to schools. They think it is a better idea to make them work from a younger age so that they can earn a living from a very small age. Rather they should be taught the importance of education and how it helps children. They should understand that education will take their children further ahead in life and will enable them to have a better life. However with the lack of educational facilities in rural areas the situation is bad at the moment. The infrastructural reforms need to be taken care of quickly.
Employment opportunities:
The employment opportunities also need to be increased in the country. The number of graduates and educated people who are unemployed are too high in India. This is why people prefer to invest the cost of education and higher education in a business that will yield profits. After spending loads of money on education people do not get the jobs that they should get. This makes the people compromise on education. Thus the jobs need to be increased in order to make the people understand the need for education. They need to be encouraged somehow.
