The competition between the Indian education system and American education system has been there for quite some time. It is a very debatable question. Both the systems have their pros and cons. The question actually lies in the individualâs preference as well as location in society. To simply choose one would not be correct. As both the systems have had their successes as well as failures to put one over the other would actually be an unfair analysis. However, here are some factors which one should be aware about.

Differences between the education systems at the school level:

It has been argued for a long time that the Indian education system at school level is better than the American because it offers a more comprehensive form of learning. Especially in the case of the subjects of Mathematics and Science, the Indian system has been considered better. While this is true the Indian Education system lags in its teaching on subjects other than these. When it comes to the study of language and literature as well as other subjects of humanities the American system is considered far more superior.

One point which has been very much in the favor of the American system is the fact that the American school system follows a more interactive as well as project based learning systems. It is a system in which the students are asked to participate more. This form of interactive basis is severely lacking in the Indian school education system.

Each system has its strong forte:

It has also been noted by many professionals that the Indian system offers comparatively fewer options to its students as compared to the American system. It is a problem that needs a serious address. The Indian education system has not received much change after the period of independence. It has produced students with strong analytical skills. These are the skills which most American students lack. In terms of the study of languages the Indian educational system lags far behind the western. Even subjects like history and geography are sidelined in India and are options which are morally looked down upon.

Differences at the college level:

When it comes to the college level both the systems have their benefits as wells as losses. While most of the acknowledged universities in America are world recognized, getting into those universities is not too easy. People all over the world apply to these colleges and the selection procedure is very strict ad stringent. Another factor which is not in the favor of the American college education system is the fact that it is way more expensive that the Indian college education system. College education in America is very expensive. As a result student loans as well as scholarships are some of the only ways to for middle class families to afford having their kids sent to a good college.

This is not the case in India.  While College education in India is not too cheap is, however, it is also not as expensive as that of the American Education system. As far as the Information Technology department of India goes it has produced several top class students that can be hired. However, the American system is still considered way more comprehensive as well as rigorous for other fields.
